Writers Resource: SFWA

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America

I’ve mentioned SFWA in a few posts in relation to magazine submissions.  SFWA is a professional organization for science fiction and fantasy writers founded in 1965. There are some privileges afford to members only, but the website is a gold mine of information. Even for those who don’t write SF/F.

There are resources for educators and readers, a blog, they sponsor Writer Beware, provide links to craft tips and tools, and host the Nebula Awards.

Writer’s Resource: Best Fantasy Books

Best Fantasy Books

One of the things that everyone seems to agree on is that a writer must read.  Since what I write is fantasy and I’m a big fan of epic fantasy, here is a website that ranks fantasy books.  It breaks down the genre into numerous topics and each list offers two options; one from the website and one from viewers.

Many of the book suggestions are repeated from website to viewer list.  Often a book will shift within the list, but sometimes viewers will offer new suggestions.  Either way, good stories are in your future be they series, military, steampunk, or even YA.
